Student Data-Sharing Consent
Last updated August 19, 2026
This is the consent you (or your parent/guardian, if you are a minor) give at the moment you request a counselor, and re-affirm when you confirm one.
What you're agreeing to share
By requesting a counselor, you consent to disclose the specific parts of your Admito profile you select (your "Shared Scope") to the specific counselor(s) you choose, so they can advise you. The default scope is:
- Profile — the academic and background details you've entered.
- Readiness — your application-readiness signals and progress.
- Deadlines — your saved deadlines and tasks.
You choose which counselors receive this, up to the request limit. Counselors you did not confirm never gain access, and any outstanding requests are withdrawn automatically when you confirm one.
This consent is granular, per-association, and revocable
- Granular: only the Shared Scope you select is disclosed.
- Per-association: consent applies to the named counselor for the named association — not to counselors generally.
- Time-bound: it starts when you confirm and ends when the association ends.
- Revocable anytime: you can end the association or withdraw a request at any time. On revocation the counselor loses access, and their copy of your data is deleted per our Data Retention Schedule. Revoking does not undo advice already given.
What the counselor can and cannot do
A counselor can read your Shared Scope, communicate with you through Admito's relay, and leave advising notes and nudges. A counselor cannot edit your records, submit anything on your behalf, or contact you outside the relay. Counselors are independent third parties, not Admito employees — see our Counseling Disclaimer & Release.
FERPA alignment
Admito is not a school, and your Admito data is not an education record held by a school. We nonetheless model this consent on FERPA principles: you (or your guardian) control the disclosure, it is specific and informed, and it is revocable.
Minors
If you are 13–17, a parent or guardian must approve your account and this sharing before a counselor association can form; the guardian's consent is captured separately (see our Children & Parental Consent policy). Until then you can browse Admito but cannot share data with, or connect to, a counselor.
Re-affirmation
You'll see the key points of this consent again when you confirm a counselor — the binding step that forms the association.
