Government & Law-Enforcement Data Requests

Admito serves undocumented, DACA, and other vulnerable students, so this is a core safeguard. It works together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Our commitments

  • We disclose user data only when legally required, and only the minimum necessary.
  • We scrutinize every request and push back on requests that are overbroad, defective, or legally insufficient.
  • We do not voluntarily share user data with government agencies.
  • We minimize what we hold, which is itself a protection.

2. Valid legal process required

We require valid legal process appropriate to the data sought: a subpoena for basic subscriber records; a court order for non-content records; and a search warrant based on probable cause for the contents of communications or documents. Requests must be specific, lawful, and properly served. We reject requests that do not meet these standards.

3. Immigration enforcement

We apply heightened care to requests from immigration-enforcement authorities. We require a valid judicial warrant for non-public user content, we do not voluntarily provide information that could expose a student's immigration status, and we avoid collecting or deriving immigration status in the first place.

4. User notification

We notify affected users of requests for their data unless we are legally prohibited (for example, by a valid gag order) or there is a genuine emergency involving risk to life. Where we are temporarily prohibited from notifying you, we will do so once the prohibition lapses.

5. Emergency requests

We may respond to bona fide emergencies involving imminent risk of serious harm, disclosing only what is necessary, and we document each such disclosure.

6. Records and transparency

We log every government request and our response, and may publish a periodic transparency report summarizing the volume and types of requests we receive.
