Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

Admito serves high-school students, many of whom are minors. This policy explains how we protect younger users and involve parents and guardians. It works together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. Minimum age
You must be at least 13 to create an Admito account. Admito is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account or collect personal information from them. We collect date of birth at sign-up and block registration by anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. A parent who believes their under-13 child has provided us information can contact privacy@admito.ai to have it reviewed and deleted.
2. Users aged 13–17 (minors)
Minor users receive heightened protections:
- Data minimization beyond our general defaults.
- No targeted advertising and no sale of personal information. We do advertise Admito to families on public pages, but that measurement never runs inside an account and never uses a student's profile, essays, or matches.
- Parental involvement and, where required, verifiable parental consent before certain activities.
- Privacy-protective defaults (private by default).
3. School and district context
When Admito is provided through a school, district, or nonprofit, the institution may authorize use on behalf of students and parents. In that context, the institution is responsible for the required notices and consents, and Admito processes student records only to provide the Service and as agreed with the institution.
4. Parent and guardian rights
Parents and guardians of minor users may, subject to verification, review their child's information, request corrections or deletion, and withdraw consent, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
5. Sensitive-status minors
For undocumented and DACA students who are minors, we apply extra care: we avoid collecting or deriving immigration status. Any related guidance is informational only — see our Disclaimer.
6. Guardian consent for minors connecting with a counselor
A student aged 13–17 may browse Admito, but before they can save colleges or scholarships, or share data with and connect to a counselor, a parent or guardian must approve their account. Until an active guardian link exists, saving and counselor connection are blocked.
How consent works. The minor invites a guardian by email. The guardian creates their own Admito parent/guardian account and affirmatively accepts the guardianship, granting consent and choosing a supervision mode. Requiring a separate, authenticated adult account plus a logged, affirmative acceptance is our verifiable-consent method.
What the guardian consents to. (a) linking the named counselor(s); (b) sharing the selected scope of information; (c) contact through Admito's relay; and (d) the chosen supervision mode. Consent is per-association, recorded as a receipt, and revocable at any time. Revoking suspends the association and triggers deletion of counselor-held data per our Data Retention Schedule.
Supervision mode.
- Standard — the guardian has visibility into the association.
- Supervised — an adult joins any live session, and the counselor attests to the adult's presence.
Turning 18. When the student turns 18, guardian visibility is suspended and supervision clears to the adult default. To continue any counselor association as an adult, the student re-consents on their own behalf.
